# Wordwire globe data: source and modifications Historical country boundaries and places are derived from André Ourednik and contributors' [historical-basemaps](https://github.com/aourednik/historical-basemaps). The map data is GPL-3.0; see HISTORICAL_BASEMAPS_LICENSE.txt (COPYING in the archive). Verified upstream snapshot: **0ef2be0223ba610d2efd670feb48442861edf311**. Verification on 28 October 2026 reproduced all 54 distributed gzip payloads and the selection index byte for byte. This identifies a reproducible source snapshot; it does not assert an undocumented original download date. The application selects 53 historical years plus places. It retains only the properties used by the renderer, removes polygon holes, rounds coordinates to three decimal places, and simplifies adjacent points with a 0.35-degree spacing threshold. The preferred editable GeoJSON inputs, selection index, conversion program and exact distributed files are included in **source.zip**. The original upstream README and full index are preserved separately. The selection index omits unused layers, including alternative-language variants. From the extracted source package, with Go installed: ```sh go run globe-bake.go ./source ./rebuilt ``` Compare rebuilt/index.json and rebuilt/geojson/*.gz against distributed/ and MANIFEST.json. The modified map data and the accompanying conversion program in this source package are distributed under GPL-3.0. This notice covers that package, not independent application components. The maps are historical approximations, not authoritative present-day borders. Keep the source attribution, license and modification notices when sharing. Three.js **0.166.0** is distributed separately under MIT; THREE_LICENSE.txt contains its copyright and license notice. Its upstream source is https://github.com/mrdoob/three.js/tree/r166.
